North Tenerife

The green side of the island: trade winds, mild temperatures, historic towns and farmland that climbs from the coast up the slopes.

Living in North Tenerife

The trade winds bring cloud and rain to the north, so the slopes are green with vineyards, banana plantations and, in the Anaga mountains, laurel forest. Historic towns such as La Laguna, La Orotava, Garachico and Puerto de la Cruz give the region its character.

Life here follows a Spanish rhythm, and there are fewer large resorts than in the south. Temperatures stay mild through the year, although the sky is more often cloudy. Tenerife North airport mainly serves flights within Spain.
